How do I apply to a listing?
You can submit a Cozy rental application from any computer or mobile device. You'll just need the link to the Cozy listing to get started.
Tip: Before you apply, ask the landlord if the rental is still available. You can contact the landlord directly through Cozy if they've shared their info, or through the listing site where you found their ad.
Create an account: To begin applying, open the application link and create an account. Creating an account allows you to save your application so you can make edits at any time.
Add Co-Applicants: If you're applying with roommates, you'll add their names and email addresses on the Co-Applicants page. This'll send each person an invite to join your application. If you're applying alone, you can skip this step.
Complete your Renter Profile: Here you'll be asked to fill out information about yourself, similar to what you'd be asked on a paper application:
- Basic Information
- Employment and Income
- Rental History
- Screening Questions
Include your Screening Reports: Some landlords will ask that you to share a copy of your credit report and/or background check with your application. You'll see the credit report and background check labeled as "Required" if that's the case. If you'd like to include these reports, you'll be asked a few verification questions by our credit partner, Experian. Once you've done this, you'll be able to purchase a copy of one report for $24.99, or both for $39.99.
Note: If you don't want to purchase a credit report or background check, be sure to uncheck those boxes during the screening step.
Review and Submit: As the final step in your application you'll be asked to review all your information and then submit the completed application to the landlord. When you click Send Application, we'll email the landlord to let them know you applied.
Wait for the landlord to decide: If the landlord selects your application, they'll be able to set up a lease term and request rent payments directly through Cozy. If you need to check on the status of your application, though, we recommend you contact the landlord directly.
